Statue of Governor Henry Watkins AllenSeated statue facing the columned parish courthouse was created by well-known sculptor Angela Gregory. Allen served in the Civil War at the Battles of Shiloh, Vicksburg, and Baton Rouge and rose to the rank of brigadier general; later he became the last Confederate governor of Louisiana. Port Allen was named for this early West Baton Rouge Parish land owner.
